Lucy's early 35th birthday present
Lucy's story
Lucy from London was really excited to receive an invitation to her friend's wedding until she realised it was in India - and she couldn't afford the flight.
When she heard about buyinpeices.com she figured - she had nothing to lose - she set up a list for an "early 35th Birthday present - a flight to India" and sent it round to all her friends and family using Facebook and an email. Her friends responded really quickly and within a few weeks - Lucy had all the pieces she needed for her flight. She would go to the wedding!

Her friends had each left a personal message for her and were safe in the knowledge Lucy had got a really special birthday present - Lucy was going to the wedding! The money for the flight was safely transferred direct to Lucy's bank account and she bought the plane ticket straight away.

I felt a bit cheeky asking for an early 35th birthday present, but going to my good friends Indian wedding was a once in a life time opportunity that I really couldn't afford. After chatting to a few friends it seemed clear people wanted to give me a gift that I really wanted and that I would remember. It all happened so fast and with everyone chipping in and buying a small piece each I soon had enough money to buy the flight, which is amazing! I got some lovely messages of support from my friends and I can't wait to go to the wedding!

Matt and Sarah's story
Matt and Sarah had been living together before they were engaged, they had a kettle, a toaster, a tv, all the things that people would put on a "traditional" wedding list. What they really wanted was a contribution towards their honeymoon so that they could make their trip to Singapore and Thailand extra special. Whether that's a night at "Raffles", upgrades on their flights or learning to dive off Koh Lak, they don't know for sure yet but wanted the freedom to choose for themselves something that would really mean the world to them.

They set up their gift list and included it in their wedding invites, using a poem they'd found online to explain to people what they really wanted and why. A lot of people used their list, but it actually raised even more money as some of their friends saw it and then decided to give them cash directly as well.
As soon as their honeymoon list closed Buy In Pieces were in touch with them to agree how they would be paid, by the end of the day a cheque was in the post to them and they were browsing the web for their dream trip.
